Mad Hippie - My first skincare blog post

I'm going to be honest - I always have my doubt when brands use the word "hippie" or "boho" in their name. I always get the impression that it may be "too natural" (is there such a thing) to help me get rid of my acne scars, clogged pores and (tiny) fine lines. Boy, was I wrong.

I've been testing out the Vitamin C Serum and the Face Cream for 2 weeks straight now, once a day, every single day. But first, I need to tell you a bit about my background in skincare.

You know those girls that think not even the course of life could change their skin? That they're immune to wrinkles, pimples, scarring or any skin issue for that matter? Yeah, I was one of those girls. My teens, oh man my teens.. I didn't even know what skincare was. I slapped a bit of cheap body lotion on my body once in a while and called it a day. Later, in my early 20s (I'm 29 now, in case I got you wondering by now), I slapped that thick Nivea blue tin cream on my face in the winter but couldn't be bothered in the Summer because I was too busy lying out in the sun without SPF. Yeah. You read that right.

That all changed when I passed my mid-20s. I started noticing some weird changes here & there. A huge zit once a month (ladies, you know what time of the month I mean), fine lines when I frown or laugh, painful dry patches, the list goes on. My skin was basically giving me some Karma for all the time that I didn't even know my skin existed (hypothetically speaking).
Since then, I've been diving into this Skincare Galaxy. Oh man, where to start? I thought I found a few matching day creams; but then, I went cruelty free. Which basically means you'll have to start from scratch.

These past 5 years I've been through hell and back when it comes to skincare. I've had my share of terrifying masks (sorry skin, sorry), even worse creams (please forgive me) and don't even get me started on the wrong exfoliators and scrubs (one scrub even left me bleeding; YES, BLEEDING).
Even though I have a few cult favourites by now, I still love trying out new products and new brands. That's what I'll be doing for you guys in this section. And this is my first ever post regarding skincare. Welcome.

MAD HIPPIE - My First Impressions

I never understood the whole serum thing. I just apply my cream and call it a day. But boy, Mad Hippie opened up the serum world for me, and I'm not sure if I'll like the other serums as much as I like this one. Mad Hippie really set that bar up there.

So every single day after my morning shower, I massage the Vitamin C serum until it's fully absorbed and follow up with the Mad Hippie Face Cream.

Also a really nice detail, these products are 100% vegan, 100% cruelty free

This little guy here packs a punch with a good load of Hyaluronic Acid.

It seems a little slimy right out of the dropper, but as soon as you apply it onto the skin it just sinks in after about 10-20 seconds of gently massaging.

At first I thought that this cream wouldn't do it for me. It felt light weight, and I just need a bit more thickness and moisture for my skin - or so I thought. But this cream was just right for me. Gave me just enough moisture but still (somehow) left my skin looking nice and matte.

I mainly use this facial oil at night. My face does feel a bit over-moisturised (nice word for oily) when I go to bed, but I literally wake up with an insanely soft skin. I even apply this oil to my lips, and it works just as good as other lip oils that I've tried! Love it.

Texture-wise, this is just your typical facial oil. I lays on the skin for a few minutes, but (depending on your skin type) will be soaked up and leave your skin feeling incredibly moisturised and soft.

Now THIS is what I'm talking about. Vegan, GMO free AND Cruelty Free.

The Verdict

I'm really liking it. It may be too early to be 100% in love with these products, but my skin has surely been loving it. I had a bit of scarring on my chin that just wouldn't leave (I've been walking around with that scar for 2-3 months now), but it's a lot lighter now. That may be the Vitamin C serum there, working it's wonders.

So even for my oily skin people, I'd highly recommend the serum and face cream!
The Antioxidant oil may be a better catch for my dry skin girls/boys as daytime moisturiser and as night mask for my combination skin girls/boys.

Well guys, that's it for my very first skincare blog. Hope you enjoyed it! Many more goodness in the planning, so stay tuned.
